I was so happy to be invited to the Firehouse Curtain Call Gala! The Firehouse Theatre is ‘an artistic community and catalyst for growth and education. It is a place where generations are inspired, spirits are nourished, and thoughts are challenged’. The annual Gala is a chance to raise money for the upcoming season and announce the shows.
My Costume
The theme for this year’s Gala was ‘Roaring Twenties’. I decided to go all out with my costume! I did a little research on the fashionable outfits during the time and chose to be a Flapper for the night. Flappers where women who wore skirts, bobbed their hair, listened to jazz, and basically wanted to do the opposite of what was considered acceptable behavior in the 1920’s!
Thanks to Amazon, I found the perfect flapper outfit! I chose a green dress (my favorite color) with detailed gold sequence. My accessories included a feather headband, pearls, gloves, a mock cigarette, sheer tights, and my own vintage style shoes that I can’t wait to wear again. They are so comfortable!
The Atmosphere
The decoration at the Gala was absolutely beautiful! The night also included two separate bars and guests were served a full meal which included dessert.
2020 Lineup
My favorite part of the Gala was that during the night, guests enjoyed snippets from the upcoming shows in 2020! The artists are incredibly talented and I can’t wait to watch the full performances.
The Firehouse Theatre lineup for 2020 includes the following:
The Drowsy Chaperone, January 30-Febuary 23, 2020 (Rated PG), The Wiz, March 13-April 5, 2020 (Rated G), Rock of Ages, May 7-May 24, 2020 (Rated PG-13), Singin’ in the Rain, July 15-August 9, 2020 (Rated G), Amelie, September 3-September 20, 2020 (Rated PG-13), Urinetown: The Musical, October 1-October 18, 2020 (Rated PG-13), The 39 Steps, November 5-November 15, 2020 (Rated PG), Elf the Musical, December 2-December 20, 2020 (Rated PG)
Speakeasy
There was also a speakeasy with a live band! The Firehouse Theatre thought of everything!
The Red Carpet
At the Firehouse Curtain Call Gala I had the most enjoyable night in my costume, especially posing on the ‘red carpet’ and hanging out with my friends 🙂 I’m looking forward to the new season and I can’t wait to watch all the shows!
