I’m back.
Hey ya’ll! It feels so good to be talking to you on this platform again. As you can tell, I shut down this website for all of 2020. And for all of you still fighting to get through this tough time in history, my thoughts are with you. Closing my website definitely was not because of the pandemic and it was not on purpose. I started off trying to rebuild my website and then realized I was mentally exhausted. At the end of 2019 I was in a very dark place. And when I say ‘dark place’, I am speaking specifically to my creative side. Originally I started this website to share content that I love and that I am proud about. Over time, it became less about what I love and more about what will get me ‘clicks’ or ‘views’. Let me tell you right now, that that is not the way to move through life.
I’ve got a new outlook.
Comparison is definitely the thief of joy. Instead of just writing my thoughts and sharing content that uplifts my spirit, I focused more on how my work compared with other people. As you can see, output on my articles dwindled from the past years to 2019 as I was trying to please EVERYBODY…. and well…. you just can’t!! Hindsight is twenty twenty (literally). I had (and still have) so many ideas and topics that I want to share with you all. I’ve definitely grown a lot this past year. Not sure if it was because of the pandemic and all other things that came with it but I have a new outlook on life (LOL I almost typed ‘new outfit on life’). I am in a better place emotionally and spiritually and I am so happy that I have come out strong.
Everything is gonna be alright.
Five things that have helped me recapture my authentic self:
- Do something that helps you remind yourself about what you love about YOU. One of of the things that I do is go to the mirror and smile. Nine times out of ten I start laughing! (I’m goofy at heart.)
- Think about your ‘why’. If you focus on this aspect, it’s less likely that you will get off track.
- Surround yourself with people that you admire and even want to be like. I stand by this soooo much. The people you interact with have an effect on you whether you see it or not.
- Set goals and then spend QUALITY TIME working on them. No matter if you just spend 5 minutes a day, you will eventually get somewhere (it’s science).
- Remember that we all hit roadblocks but it is the way that we respond that counts in the end!!
Welcome back.
