I recently had the most relaxing girls trip in Fredericksburg, Texas! All of the women in my family came together for a fun weekend filled with sight seeing, great food, wine, and girl talk! I had an amazing stay and wanted to share my itinerary with you all!
Reserve a VRBO
Our first thoughts were finding somewhere to stay. We wanted to get the full Fredericksburg, Texas hill country experience and renting a VRBO seemed like the best idea. VRBO is part of the of Home Away family and ‘VRBO’ stands for ‘Vacation Rental by Owner’. We were fortunate enough to find a gorgeous villa at the top of a hill that I will never forget! All praise goes to my sister for locating this snazzy place! The house was so beautiful inside and out!
Dine at the Fredericksberg Herb Farm
Saturday began with breakfast at the wonderful Fredericksburg Herb Farm. If the authentic rustic appeal doesn’t attract you- the food definitely will! Technically, the restaurant is called The Farm Haus Bistro and there are tasty selections to enjoy. I recommend ordering the Eggs Hemingway topped with a Mimosa flight, which is a great way to sample all the mimosa flavors at one time!
The best part about The Fredericksburg Herb Farm is that there are cottages where guests can stay in a relaxing garden environment.
The Poet’s Haus Gift Shop is also on the property offering garden and gift items as well as candles, lotions, soaps and much more! All are grown on-site!
Go on a Wine Tour
One feature about Fredericksburg that makes it so charming are the wineries within the area. If you want my suggestion, the perfect way to visit several of the wineries is by using the 290 Wine Shuttle service.
For just under $30 you’ll be able to ‘hop on’ or ‘hop off’ the shuttle and take your pick to spend the most time at the wineries that you prefer!
Here is a list of wineries included on the tour:
2. Mendelbaum Cellars
3. Inwood Estates
9. Messina Hof
11. Fiesta Winery
12. The Vintage Cellar
13. Six Shooter Cellars
Shop in Old Fredericksburg
With over 150 stores in the small town of Fredericksburg, it proves to be a great shopping experience! You’ll find antiques, art galleries, bakeries, candle shops, garden shops, and much much more.
Fredericksburg even has an authentic five and dime store known as Dooley’s. The store was founded in 1923 and it’s the perfect place to pick up items from ‘the good old days’.
If you get hungry later on, makes sure you visit Hondo’s on Main for an excellent southern meal! You can also visit Pontotoc Vineyard Wiengarten for the sangria and Tubby’s Icehouse! There are tons of other attractions to enjoy including museums and art galleries in Fredericksburg. The place is full of history and I really enjoy it everytime I visit!
I hope you are able to to put my Weekend Fredericksburg Itinerary to use because the town is an excellent place to relax! I can’t wait to get back soon because one weekend just isn’t enough!
